Companies to Watch (CTW) honors second-stage companies that demonstrate high performance in the marketplace, exhibit innovative products or processes, or otherwise make those companies “worth watching.”

The award ceremony will be September 23, 2010 at the Raleigh Marriott City Center.

Credit Suisse to manage $230MM North Carolina Innovation Fund

North Carolina Treasurer, Janet Cowell, announced Monday that the North Carolina Retirement System has hired Credit Suisse to manage a $230 million equity fund targeting innovative in-state businesses.

According to the press release from the Office of the Treasurer, “Investments will be aimed at building upon the strengths of the North Carolina economy and may target high growth industries that include, but are not limited to; life sciences, technology and clean energy.”

“North Carolina is a good investment,” stated Cowell. “As we look globally for opportunities to achieve a high rate of return for our pensioners, we need to be diligent in looking into the possibilities that are in our own backyard.”

NC IDEA Awards Fall 2009 Grants, Apply for Spring 2010

The NC IDEA Spring grant cycle available to North Carolina based companies opens on Monday, February 22, 2010.  There are two pre-proposal deadlines: Friday, March 5th and Friday, March 19th.

Due to the competitive nature of the screening process, applicants are strongly encouraged to apply by the first deadline, giving them the benefit of an extended review period. All interested companies must submit an application prior to the final pre-proposal deadline
